Current Phase: Implementation of Adopted Plan

Project Completed

At its November 12, 2009 meeting, the ALUC formally adopted the Trinity County ALUCP. The ALUC will now use the ALUCP for land use action review guidance.

The final step of this project is implementation of the ALUCP. This phase consists of updating the Trinity County General Plan to include the ALUCP and adopting new and updated County ordinances that reflect the ALUCP guidance.

A hardcopy of the adopted ALUCP is available at the Trinity County Planning Department.

See the adopted Compatibility Zone and AIA maps for Trinity County airports.

Project milestones are listed on the Plan Progress page. A record of past meetings is kept in Plan Drafts.

What is the ALUC?

ALUC stands for Airport Land Use Commission. There are ALUCs throughout California. As dictated by state law, an ALUC has two primary roles:

  • To develop and adopt airport land use compatibility plans (ALUCPs) for the airports within their jurisdictions

  • To review local agency land use actions to ensure that new development is compatible with adopted ALUCPs.

What is an ALUCP?

ALUCP stands for Airport Land Use Compatibility Plan.

The purpose of an ALUCP is to protect the safety of people, property, and aircraft on the ground and in the air in the vicinity of airports.

ALUCPs also protect airports from encroachment by new incompatible land uses that could restrict the airports’ operations.

ALUCPs are required by the State for every public airport.
